About BMX League

About BMX League

BMX League is a beginner-friendly youth bike program that gives kids a fun, structured way to try BMX racing in a low-pressure environment.

Designed for boys and girls ages 4–15, each League season combines instruction, practice, confidence-building, and racing into a five-session experience. Riders do not need prior BMX experience, and they do not need a special racing bike to get started. If they can ride a pedal bike without training wheels, they are ready to give BMX League a try.

A Real-Life Video Game

BMX racing feels like a real-life video game: riders line up at the starting gate, race around a dirt track with jumps and turns, and finish with big smiles whether they win the moto or not.

The focus is not on turning kids into elite racers overnight. The goal is to help new riders build bike-handling skills, learn how the track works, make friends, gain confidence, and experience the excitement of BMX in a safe, encouraging setting.

What Happens During a League Season?

Most BMX League seasons include five sessions at a local BMX track. Each session typically includes:

  • check-in and getting ready
  • beginner-friendly instruction
  • track practice
  • a short snack or water break
  • organized racing
  • open ride time, when available

Riders are grouped with other kids at a similar age and ability level. Coaches and volunteers help guide new families through the process, from getting on the track to understanding staging, motos, and race-day basics.

What’s Included?

Each rider receives a League jersey and a personalized number plate. Many locations also offer loaner bikes and helmets, so families can try the program before investing in BMX-specific gear.

At the end of the season, riders are recognized for their participation and progress. The emphasis is on effort, learning, and having a great experience on the bike.

Who Is BMX League For?

BMX League is for kids who like bikes, movement, adventure, and trying something new.

It is also for parents looking for an active, screen-free activity that builds confidence and creates a shared family experience. Many families come in knowing nothing about BMX and leave feeling like part of the track community.

Try BMX First

Most locations offer a free Open House or “Give-it-a-Try” event before the season begins. It is a simple way for kids and parents to see the track, meet the people running the program, ask questions, and take a few laps before signing up.

Attendance at an Open House is helpful, but it is not required. New riders are welcome either way.
